Wheat Vegetable Dumpling(Momos)


  Dumplings(Momos) is one of the popular dish arround the world.Dumplings are usually prepare by steaming cooked or raw vegetables or meat wrapped in a sheet made of maida.Here I share the recipe made of wheat flour sheet that I have tried.

Vegetables are the key ingredients of this dish. Vegtables contains vitamins,minerals and protein which helps in many ways to our eye sight,blood pressure level,skin care,immunity,etc., Using vegetables we can make so many dishes including sambhar,curry,rice,etc., Here I share some recipes link that I included in this blog.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Wheat Vegetable Dumpling(Momos). First we make the stuffings for that we want to fine chop the vegetables and saute it in a fry pan.Then we prepare the dough for wrapping using wheat flour as usual like chapathi.Make small balls and roll it. Add the stuffings to the wrap and make shapes as you desired.Steam it.We get a yummy snacks for evening tea/coffee.Come on lets see the ingredients required and step by step instructons of this recipe.

Ingredients:

For Outer Wrap:

Wheat Flour 2 Cup.
Oil 2 Tsp.
Sugar 1/4 Tsp.
Salt to Taste.
Water as Required to Knead the dough.

For Stuffing:

Cabbage(Finely Chopped) 1Cup.
Carrot(Finely Chopped) 1/2 Cup.
Capsicum(Finely Chopped) 1/2 Cup.
Shallots/Sambhar Onion(Finely chopped) 5 Nos.
Garlic Cloves(Finely Chopped) 5 Nos.
Green Chilly(Finely Chopped) 2 Nos.
Spring Onion Greens(Finely Chopped) Few.
Soya Sauce 2 Tsp.
Sugar 1/4 Tsp.
Salt to Taste.
Oil 1 Tbsp.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • For preparing stuffing,chop the vegetables finely as possible.
  • Heat oil in a pan,add shallots,garlic,green chilly and fry.
  • Add capsicum and fry.
  • Add carrot and fry.
  • Add cabbage and fry.
  • Add Salt and sugar to it and fry it well for 2 minutes.
  • Add soya sauce and fry it well.
  • Turn off the stove,add spring onion leaves to it.
  • Mix it well and keep it aside.
  • For preparing wrap,take a mixing bowl add wheat flour,oil,sugar,salt.Add required water and knead it to form a soft dough.
  • Make small balls(gooseberry size) and roll it as small circle.
  • Add the stuffings to the center of the sheet.
  • Fold and seal it.Make shape by again folding(Refer picture)
  • Greese the idly plate or spread the cabbage leaves in the plate.
  • Arrange the raw dumplings in it
  • Steam it for 10 minutes.
  • Now our Wheat Vegetable Dumpling(Momos) is ready. Enjoyed it with tomato garlic chutney.


Pictorial Description:

For making stuffing,chop the vegetables finely as possible.


Heat oil in a pan.


Add garlic,green chilly and shallots to it and fry.


Add capsicum and fry.


Add carrot and fry.


Add cabbage and fry.


Add required salt and sugar and mix it well.


Add 2 tsp soya sauce.


Fry it for 2 minutes.


Add spring onion greens,turn off the stove and keep it aside.


For making wraping,in mixing bowl add 2 cup of wheat flour,1 tsp oil,1/4 tsp sugar and required salt.


Add required water and knead it to form a soft dough.


Make it into small balls(gooseberry size).



Add the stuffing in the center.


Fold the wrap as mentioned in the picture.


Again fold it as shown below.


Greese the idly plate or place cabbage leaves on the idly plate.Arrange the dumplings on it.


Steam it for 10 minutes.


Now our Wheat Vegetable Dumpling(Momos) is ready.


Serve hot with tomato garlic chutney.
