Sarkara(Jaggery) Pidi Kollukattai is our traditional steamed sweet snacks/breakfast made of rice atta which is one of the most beloved prasad(offering) for Lord Ganesha. In our home town,for Ganesh Chaturthi,this prasad plays a big role in every house. Here I share the recipe for Sarkara(Jaggery) Pidi Kollukattai followed by My Mother.

Recipe Overview:
In this Post I share the recipe Sarkara(Jaggery) Pidi Kollukattai. First we prepare jaggery syrup.
In a mixing bowl, add rice flour,jaggery syrup,coconut,dry ginger
powder,cardamom powder and mix well to form a soft dough. Divde the
dough into a small oblong shape balls. Steam it in a steamer/idly
pot for 10 minutes. Now our Sarkara(Jaggery) Pidi Kollukattai is ready for our beloved
Ganpathi Bappa.

Ingredients:
Rice Atta/Flour 1 Cup.
Jaggery/Sarkara 3/4 Cup.
Coconut 1/4 Cup.
Dry Ginger Powder 1 Pinch.
Cardamom Powder 1 Pinch.
Water 2 Tbsp.
Step By Step Instructions:
- Take a sauce pan,add jaggery and 2 tbsp water to it.Make a syrup.
- In a mixing bowl, add rice flour/atta.
- Add the jaggery syrup little by little and mix well.
- Add grated coconut to it.
- Add dry ginger powder and cardamom powder to it.
- Mix and knead well to form a soft dough.
- Divide the dough and make pidis(make oblong shaped balls and press it with our fingers(refer picture)).
- Steam it in steamer/idly pot.
- Now our Sarkara(Jaggery) Pidi Kollukattai is ready for our beloved Ganpathi Bappa.

Make syrup.

Gradually add the sugar syrup.
Mix it well.
Add grated coconut to it.
Add dry ginger powder and cardamom powder.
Mix and knead it well to form a soft dough.
Divide the dough into small balls and make pidis as given in the picture.
Steam it in steamer/idly pot for 10 minutes.
