Instant Dosa with Homemade Dosa Premix By Raji's Smart Kitchen "Cook Food in a Smart Way"


Dosa is one of the popular breakfast/dinner dish all over the South India.Traditionally the Dosas can be made by soaking urud dal,rice,methi for 3 to 6 hours and then grinded it into batter.This batter must be allow to fermented for 8 hours.Nowadays in the busy world many of us have no time to prepare this types of foods.For that premixes makes us to prepare this type of food easily within less time.Here I share the recipe of Instant Dosa with Homemade Dosa Premix that I have tried.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Instant Dosa.For this recipe we need to prepare a premix.We can store this premix upto 2 weeks in a airtight container. Prepare the dosa batter with the required premix,pour the dosa batter on the hot tawa.Roast it by drizzling butter or oil. Our tasty and Instant Dosa is ready.This can be served with chutney,sambhar.Come on lets check the ingredients and step by step procedure for this recipe.

Ingredients:

For Dosa Premix:

Urud Dal 1/2 Cup.
Toor Dal 1/2 Tbsp.
Channa Dal 1/2 Tbsp.
Fenugreek Seeds(Methi) 1/2 Tsp.
Rice Flour 1 1/2 Cup.
Rava 2 Tbsp.
Salt as Required(I put 2 Tsp Salt).

For Instant Dosa:

Dosa Premix 1 Cup.
Curd 1/4 Cup.
Water as Required.
Butter/Ghee/Oil for Roasting.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • For Dosa Premix,heat a pan,add urud dal,channa dal,toor dal,fenugreek seeds to it.
  • Roast it well in low flame.
  • Blend it to a fine powder.
  • Transfer the powder to a large bowl.Add rice flour,rava and required salt to it and mix it well.Our Homemade Dosa premix is ready.We can store in a airtight container for upto 2 weeks.
  • For dosa batter preparation,add 1 cup of instant dosa premix in a bowl.
  • Add 1/4 cup of curd.
  • Gradually add water mix it to form a thick batter.
  • Heat a dosa tawa.Pour one full ladle of dosa batter and spread it
  • Drizzle some oil and roast one side.
  • Flip it up and roast another side.
  • Transfer to the plate.Serve with chutney,sambhar,any non veg curry.

Add curd


Gradually add water,mix it to form a thick batter.


Heat a dosa tawa.


Pour one full ladle of batter to it and spread.Drizzle few oil/butter.Roast it well


Flip it to another side and roast well.


Transfer to the plate.Serve hot with chutney,sambhar or any nonveg curry.

    Appam


    Appam is one of our traditional breakfast recipe made of Fermented Raw Rice Batter. Here I Share the recipe that I followed.

    Ingredients:

    Raw Rice 3 Cups.
    Cooked Rice 1/4 Cup.
    Dosa Batter 1/4 Cup For Recipe Click the Link..
    Grated Coconut 1/4 Cup.
    Sugar 1 Tsp.
    Baking Soda(Cooking Soda/Appam Soda/Eating Soda) 1/4 Tsp.
    Salt 3 Tsp.
    Water as Needed.

    Note: If you don't have Dosa Batter then add a handful of Parboiled Rice(Pulungal Rice/Idly Rice),Urud Dal and 5 to 6 Fenugreek Seeds(Vendhayam/Methi) to it during soaking.

    Similar Recipes:


    Method:

    • Take 3 Cup of Raw Rice in a bowl.

    • Soak in Water for 2 to 3 hours.

    • Wash and drain the Water.

    • In a Mixie Jar, add Cooked Rice.

    • Then add the Soaked Rice.

    • Then add the Dosa Batter.

    • Then add the Grated Coconut.

    • Add Water and grind it to a smooth paste.

    • Transfer it into a wide bowl.

    • Add Salt,Sugar and Baking Soda and mix well.

    • Cover it with lid and allow it to ferment for 8 hours.

    • After fermented the batter looks like this.

    • Mix well using the ladle.

    • Heat the Appam Pan(If you don't have Appam Pan then use Dosa Tawa).

    • Pour one ladle full of Batter into it.

    • Spin the Appam pan and spread the batter as shown below.

    • Close it with lid and cook for 60 seconds on medium low flame.

    • Now the Appam is cooked well.

    • Transfer it to a plate.

    • Serve with Masala Curry,Chutney,Sambhar or any Non Veg Curry. Here I Served the Appam with Masala Curry.

    Pancakes


    Pancakes are the flat cakes that are made on the Pan or Tawa. Here I Share the recipe of simple pancake.

    Ingredients:

    Maida or All Purpose Flour 1 Cup.
    Baking Powder 1 Tsp. 
    Egg 2 Nos.
    Sugar 10 Tbsp.
    Milk 1 Cup.
    Vanilla Essense 8 Drops.
    Butter/Ghee for Toasting.
    Any Jam or Spread as Required.

    • Take a mixing bowl, pour 2 Eggs.
    • Add Vanilla Essense to it.
    • Add Sugar to it.
    • Add Milk to it.
    • Beat it with a beater till foams formed.
    • Add Maida/All Purpose Flour and Baking Powder to it.
    • Mix it well to form a batter.
    • Heat Ghee or Butter in a tawa.
    • Pour the Pancake batter in to it.
    • Wait till the bubbles occur.
    • Flip it out and toast other side.
    • Transfer to a plate.
    • Apply Jam or any spreads on base side of the pancake.(Here I use Chocolate and Strawberry spread).
    • Cover with another pancake.
    • Serve hot.
