Basil(Sweet Tulsi) Tomato Chutney By Raji's Smart Kitchen "Cook Food in a Smart Way"


Chutney is one of the common side dish for many dishes like Idly,Dosa,Uttappam,etc., Here I Shared the Chutney recipe made of Basil leaves(Sweet Tulsi) and Tomatoes.

Ingredients:

Basil Leaves(Sweet Tulsi)  1 Bunch(50 gms).
Tomatoes    4 Nos(Roughly Chopped).
Garlic    10 to 15 Cloves.
Red Chillies    5 Nos.
Tamarind    1 Small Piece.
Sugar    1/4 Tsp.
Salt to Taste.
Oil    2 Tbsp.

For Seasoning:

Gingelly Oil(Till Oil or Nallennai or Seasame Oil)    1 Tbsp.
Mustard Seeds    1 Tsp.
Urud Dal    1 Tsp.
Curry Leaves    Few.

Picturial Description:

  • Take all the Ingredients.
  • Heat Oil in a Pan.
  • Add Garlic and Red Chillies to it and fry.
  • Add Tomatoes to it and fry.
  • Add the Tamarind piece and fry.
  • Add the Salt and Sugar to it and fry.
  • Now add the Basil Leaves to it.
  • Fry until the Tomatoes and Basil completely. Cool it down.
  • Transfer it in to a mixie jar.
  • Blend it into a fine paste.
  • In the same pan, heat Gingelly Oil and season with Mustard,Urud Dal and Curry Leaves.
  • Pour the Tadka into the Chutney and serve.
