Paruppu Adai is one of our traditional breakfast recipe in our place. It is one of the dosa variety dish, the batter can be made with channa dal, rice, coconut, onion, green chilly, curry leaves and some spices. The batter can be either grind in wet grinder or mixie. Here I share the recipe of how to make adai in mixie and also I add some tips for grinding in wet grinder and for making a perfect traditional adai that was teached by My Mother.

In our place, for adai, the batter is grinded using wet grinder because of its taste. For grinding in wet grinder, when soaking dal and rice we also soak dry red chilly so that it grind properly and grinding time is 10 to 15 minutes. For wet grinding add only little amount of water.Another important thing is the rice we used for adai is parboiled rice or steamed rice which is the rice precooked with husk and dried. It also has other names as idly rice or pulungal rice.Ok come on lets see the required ingredients and the step by step instruction for this recipe using mixie.

Note:

In our native place,we get a special dal called vada paruppu(vada lenthils) for this recipe but in my current place I can't get that dal so I used channa dal.If you get vada paruppu(vada lenthils) you can use it to get the traditional taste.
Same as dal,we use shallots(sambhar onion) for this recipe instead of onion. If you get shallots(sambhar onion) you can use it for more taste. For this recipe please use sesame oil(gingelly oil/til oil/nallennai) for roasting so that it gives its original taste.

Variations:

You can also made this adai dosa using kappa(tapioca/maracheeni kilangu/maravalli kilangu/cassava).I include the recipe link here...
