Simple Red Coconut Chutney


Simple Red Coconut Chutney is one of the popular chutneys that can be served for dosa/idly/vada. Here I share recipe followed by My Mother.

There are so many chutney varieties that are cooked all over the world to accompany with different food. In India,mostly the  chutney varieties   are like coconut chutneys, garlic chutney,pudina(mint) chutney,tomato chutney,imli(tamarind) chutney,etc., served with idly,dosa,vada,pakoda,fritters,etc., Here I shared the links of some of the chutney varieties in this blog.

Coconut is the key ingredient used in this recipe.In Kerala,Coconut plays a major role in making dishes. Coconut controls the functioning of thyroid glands. It also improves brain functioning. It plays major role for boosting immunitiy power.Coconut can also be used for skin as well as hair care.We can intake coconut by itself,coconut milk,coconut oil.Using coconut we can do many breakfast recipes,curries,snacks,etc., Here I share the links of some of the recipes that are made with coconut.

In this Post I share the recipe Simple Red Coconut Chutney. First we grind coconut along with some ingredients into fine paste.Prepare seasoning and pour over the chutney.Served with idly,dosa,etc.,

Ingredients:

Grated Coconut 1 Cup.
Dry Red Chilly 3 to 5 according to your spiciness.
Garlic Cloves 2 Nos.
Asafoetida(Hing) 1/4 Tsp.
Salt to Taste.
Water as Required.

For Seasoning/Tempering:

Coconut Oil 2 Tsp.
Dry Red Chilly 1 No.
Urud Dal 1 Tsp.
Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp.
Curry Leaves Few.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • In a mixie jar add grated coconut,dry red chilly,garlic cloves,asafoetida(hing) and salt.Add required water and grind it into smooth paste.
  • Transfer it to a serving bowl.
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan,season with mustard seeds,dry red chilly,urud dal and curry leaves.
  • Pour the seasoning over the chutney.
  • Now our Simple Red Coconut Chutney is ready to serve with Idly,Dosa,Vada,etc.,

Pictorial Description:
