Street Style Kara Chutney(Spicy Chutney)


Kara Chutney(Spicy Chutney) is of the popular chutney in India. It can be served for dosa in road side hotels. Here I share recipe I have tried.

In India,mostly the  curry/gravy varieties   are like chutneys, masalas, dal, sambhar, kulambu served with rice,idly,dosa,roti, chapathi, paratha, naan,etc., Here I shared the links of some of the curry varieties in this blog.

Garlic is the key ingredient which found in all parts of the world. It contains more nutrients. It can prevent common cold and flu. It acts as blood purifier. Garlic can be consumed as dips,powders,oil,etc., Here I Share the links of some of the recipes that are cooked using Garlic.


Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Street Style Kara Chutney(Spicy Chutney). First we grind onion,tomato,garlic,tamarind piece,dry red chilly,kashmir red chilly powder,salt into a fine paste.Then Boil the paste until the raw smell goes out.Our chutney is ready.Season with sesame oil,mustard seed,urud dal and curry leaves. Pour it on the chutney.This Dish can be served with idly,dosa,etc.,

Ingredients:

Onion(Roughly Chopped) 2 Numbers.
Tomato(Roughly Chopped) 2 Numbers.
Dry Red Chilly 5 Numbers.
Garlic Cloves 10 to 12 Numbers.
Kashmir Red Chilly Powder 1/2 Tsp.
Tamarind 1 Small Piece.
Black Lentils(Urud Dal) 1 Tsp.
Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp.
Sesame Oil 1 Tbsp.
Water as Required.
Curry Leaves Few.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Roughly chop onions,tomatoes and garlic.
  • In a mixie jar add onion,tomato,garlic,dry red chilly,kashmir red chilly,tamarind and salt and grind it into a fine paste.
  • Heat oil in a pan.
  • Add the grinded paste and little water and cover and boil it until the raw smell goes out.
  • Now our Kara Chutney is ready. Transfer it into a serving bowl.
  • Prepare the seasoning by heating sesame oil in pan, add mustard,black lentil(urud dal) and curry leaves.
  • Serve the Kara Chutney with Idly/Dosa.

Add a small piece of tamarind.

Now our Kara Chutney is ready.

Transfer it into a serving bowl.

Add curry leaves.

Pour it on the chutney. Serve with Idly/Dosa.
