Chettinad Mushroom Gravy


Mushroom Gravy is one of the popular and favourite dish all over the world.This Dish can be cooked in different styles.Here I shared this Mushroom Gravy in Chettinad Style.

Chettinad Cuisine is of the world's most popular cuisine of Tamilnadu,India. It becomes popular due to the freshly hand pound spices like Cumin,Bay Leaf,Fenugreek,pepper,coriander,red chilly that included in the dish. Some of the famous Chettinad Dishes are Chicken Chettinad, Idiyappam,Appam,White Kurma,Urulai Roast, Paal Payasam,etc., Here I include the links of the Chettinad Cuisine Recipes in this blog.


There are so many curry/gravy varieties that are cooked all over the world to accompany with different food. In India,mostly the  curry/gravy varieties   are like chutneys, masalas, dal, sambhar, kulambu served with rice,idly,dosa,roti, chapathi, paratha, naan,etc., Here I shared the links of some of the curry varieties in this blog.

Info about Key Ingredients:

Mushrooms are the fungi family fruits that can cooked in a variety of ways. It contains some amount proteins and fibres,the antioxidant named Selenium which helps to develop our immune system. It also contains Vitamin B6 which helps in Brain Development.


Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Chettinad Mushroom Gravy. First we prepare a masala powder by roasting some whole ingredients. Next we start prepare our gravy by frying Onion,Tomato. Add the Mushroom and boil. Now add the Masala Powder that we prepared already and fry.Garnish with Coriander Leaves. This Dish can be the served with chapathi,roti,naan,etc.,


Method:

Ingredients:

Mushroom(200 gms roughly chopped) 1 Number.
Onion(Roughly Chopped) 1 Number.
Tomato(Roughly Chopped) 1 Number.
Cumin(Jeera) 1 Tsp.
Mustard Seeds(Rai/Kadugu) 1 Tsp.
Oil 2 Tbsp.
Salt to Taste.
Water as Required.
Curry Leaves Few.
Coriander Leaves for Garnishing.

For Masala Powder:

Dry Red Chilly 3 Number.
Black gram(Urud Dal)1 Tsp.
Roasted Bengal Gram 1 Tsp.
Cumin(Jeera) 1 Tbsp.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Chop all the Vegetables as mentioned above.
  • Heat a pan. Add all the Masala Powder ingredients and roast well.
  • Allow it to cool and transfer to mixie jar.
  • Grind it to a fine powder and keep it aside.
  • Add Onion to it and fry it well.
  • Add Tomato to it and fry it well.
  • Add Salt to it and fry until Onion and Tomato becomes soft.
  • Add Mushrooms to it and fry.
  • Add little Water and cook for 5 minutes.
  • Now add the Masala Powder and fry it well.
  • Garnish with Coriander Leaves.
  • Now our Chettinad Mushroom Gravy is ready. Serve with Rice,Roti,Chapathi,Naan,etc.,

Pictorial Description:

Chop all the Vegetables.

Heat a fry pan.

Add all the Masala Ingredients as mentioned above.

Fry it well and allow it to cool.

Transfer it to mixie jar.

Grind it to a fine powder.


Heat Oil a pan.


Season with Mustard,Cumin,Urud Dal and Curry Leaves.


Add Onion into it.


Fry it well.


Add Tomato into it.


Add Salt to it


Fry until the Onion and Tomato cooked well.


Add Mushrooms into it.


Fry for a minute.


Add little water to it and cook for 5 minutes.


Now add the Freshly Grinded Masala Powder to it.


Fry it well until Oil comes out.


Garnish with Coriander Leaves.

Serve it with Rice,Chapathi,Roti,Naan,etc.,.

    My suggestion, Add Approx cost of main ingredient like mushroom Approx 200gms 50 rupees.
    So that People will understand, the cost also.
    If suppose chicken Half kg 100 to 150 like that.
    Also mention Approx how many can share food like 3 to 4
