Kerala Poosanikai Mangai Pachadi(Pumpkin Raw Mango Pachadi) By Raji's Smart Kitchen "Cook Food in a Smart Way".


In South India,for lunch rice can be served with different curry(kuzhambu), kootu, aviyal, poriyal(side dishes),etc., For ladies,daily one side dish is a big task,for that here I share the traditional kerala dry side dish recipe of how to make Poosanikai Mangai Pachadi(Pumpkin Raw Mango Pachadi) that teached by My Mother.

Poosanikai Mangai Pachadi(Pumpkin Raw Mango Pachadi) is one of the simple and traditional dry side dish in our place.My mom usually cook this side dish if mango and pumpkin are available.Today I prefer to cook sambhar for lunch and for dry side dish when I go through my fridge I found few pumpkin and mango so I decided to cook this pachadi which was awesome combination for sambhar rice.You can also give a try for this if you have pumpkin and mango.Come on lets see the required ingredients and the step by step instruction for this recipe.

Ingredients:

Pumpkin(Poosanikai)(Chopped into Small Pieces) 200 Gms.
Raw Mango(Mangai)(Chopped into Small Pieces) 200 Gms.
Green Chilly(Finely Chopped) 1 or 2 Nos.
Turmeric Powder 1/4 Tsp.
Urud Dal 1 Tsp.
Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp.
Salt to Taste.
Water as Required.
Coconut Oil 1 Tbsp.
Curry Leaves Few.

For Grinding:

Grated Coconut 1/4 Cup.
Garlic Clove 1 No.
Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp.
Cumin Seeds(Jeera) 1 Tsp.


Step By Step Instructions:
  • Heat 1 tbsp coconut oil in a pan,season with mustard seeds,urud dal and curry leaves.
  • Add the chopped pumpkin and raw mango along with 1/4 tsp turmeric powder and required salt.Give a good mix.
  • Add required water and cook the veggies.
  • Now we want to prepare a coconut mixture for that take 1/4 cup grated coconut,1 tsp cumin seeds,1 tsp mustard seeds,1 garlic clove in a mixie jar.Grind it in pulse or whip mode without adding water.
  • Once veggies done,add the coconut mixture to it and give a good mix.
  • Cook it for 2 minutes.
  • Now our Kerala Poosanikai Mangai Pachadi(Pumpkin Raw Mango Pachadi) is ready.Enjoy...

Chop the veggies as mentioned.

Add raw mango,pumpkin,turmeric powder and required salt.


Add required water and cook.


Take all the grinding ingredients in a mixie jar.


Grind it in pulse/whip mode without adding water.


Now our veggies are cooked well.


Add the coconut mixture.


Combine and cook for 2 minutes.


Now our Kerala Poosanikai Mangai Pachadi(Pumpkin Raw Mango Pachadi) is Ready.Enjoy....


Note:

Don't miss to add mustard seeds during grinding because mustard seeds only gives the original taste of pachadi.If you miss it is like the kichadi or chutney.

Serving Suggestions:

This pachadi can be served as one of the dry side dish in lunch rice plate.It also goes well with sambhar sadam(sambhar rice),curd rice.
