Cucumber Olan


 

Cucumber Olan is one of the easiest sidedish made by the combination of cucumber,Cow peas (Black Eye Beans),coconut milk. Here I shared the recipe followed my mother. This Cucumber olan is one of the most important sidedish in the Grand Lunch served in our Marriage Ceremony and Kerala Royal Sadhya.

In this Post I share the recipe Cucumber Olan. It is one of the easiest sidedish. Here we want to cook cucumber,along with boiled cow peas(black eyed beans) and seasonings in thin coconut milk. Then add the thick coconut milk to it,boil and serve.

Ingredients:

Mangalore Cucumber(Peeled and cubed) 250gms.
Boiled Cow Peas(Perumpayaru/Karamani/Black Eyed Beans) 1/4 Cup.
Thick Coconut Milk 1/4 cup.
Thin Coconut Milk 1 cup.
Green Chilly 2 nos.
Mustard Seed 1 tsp.
Salt to taste.
Coconut Oil 2 tsp.
Curry Leaves few.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan,season with mustard seeds and curry leaves.
  • Add cucumber cubes,boiled cow peas(perumpayaru/karamani) and salt to it.
  • Add thin coconut milk,green chilly to it and cook well.
  • Add thick coconut milk and boil for 1 minute.
  • Garnish with few curry leaves.Now our Cucumber Olan is ready to serve.
