Mouthwatering Chicken Thovaran(Shredded Chicken Stir Fry) By Raji's Smart Kitchen "Cook Food in a Smart Way".


Chicken Thovaran(Chicken Stir Fry) is one of the easy South Indian sidedish epsecially Kerala which becomes a great combination for rice,roti,chapathi.This dish can be prepared by stir fry the cooked shredded chicken pieces with shallots and coconut dry masala mixture which taste awesome.Here I shared the recipe that followed by My Mother.

It is one of the simple and traditional recipe in our place.First we want to cook the chicken and shredd it well,if you have boned chicken then cook and shredd the flesh well then we can make soup with that bones.I can still remember that in my childhood days my grandma prepare chicken soup with this leftover bones and serve with Neer Adai which was awesome taste.Next we want to prepare a simple masala paste for this dish using coconut,garlic and spices.Then we fry onion,ginger garlic paste along with some seasonings.Then we add cooked chicken,masala paste and fry it well.Add some curry leaves and serve.The aroma of coconut oil and the masalas with chicken makes us mouthwatering. Come on lets see the required ingredients and the step by step instruction for this recipe.

Preparation Time: 30 Minutes Cooking Time: 20 Minutes Serving: 4

Ingredients:

Chicken(Boneless Preferred) 350gms.
Ginger Garlic Paste 2 Tsp.
Onion(Finely Chopped) 1 Nos(Big Size).
Green Chilly(Finely Chopped) 2 Nos.
Garam Masala Powder 1/2 Tsp.
Chicken Masala Powder 1 Tsp.
Coriander Powder 1 Tsp.
Urud Dal 1 Tsp.
Mustard Seeds 1 Tsp.
Coconut Oil 1 Tbsp.
Curry Leaves Few.
Water as Required.
Salt to Taste.

For Masala Paste:

Grated Coconut 2 Tbsp.
Red Chilly Powder 1 Tsp.
Turmeric Powder 1/4 Tsp.
Fennel Seeds(Perunjeeragam/Sombhu/Saunf) 1 Tsp.
Garlic Cloves 1 No.


Step By Step Instructions:
  • Marinate the chicken with ginger garlic paste and salt for 1/2 an hour.
  • Pressure cook the chicken for 2 whistles by adding little water.Drain the water,shredd the chicken into pieces and keep it aside.
  • For masala paste,take a mixie jar add the masala paste ingredients and grind it in pulse mode without adding water.Keep it aside.
  • Heat coconut oil in a pan,season with mustard seeds,urud dal and curry leaves.
  • Add onion,green chilly,ginger garlic paste and fry it for 2 minutes.
  • Add the shredded chicken along with garam masala powder,chicken masala powder,required salt,mix and fry it well.
  • Add the masala paste to it and fry it for 2 minutes.
  • Add few more curry leaves to it.Our Yummy Chicken Thovaran(Chicken Stir Fry) is ready.Serve hot.

Pictorial Description:

Now our yummy Chicken Thovaran(Chicken Stir Fry) is ready.Serve hot.


Note:

Usually we use shallots(sambhar onion) for this recipe but here I used chopped onion due to unavailabilty.If you have shallots then you can add 7 to 10 chopped shallots that gives its original taste.
Use coconut oil for making this recipe.

Serving Suggestions:

This Chicken Thovaran(Shredded Chicken Stir Fry) can be served to rice with any spicy curry.In our house it is usually served with puli curry(tamarind curry) and rasam
