Grilled Piri Piri Veg Sandwich with Homemade Piri Piri Masala


Sandwich is one of the popular breakfast dish all over the world.The sandwich can be prepared in different style. Here I share this recipe using Homemade Piri Piri Masala.

Homemade Piri Piri Masala:

Piri Piri is originating from the Portuguese and some South African Countries. Piri Piri means hot pepper that is majorly cultivated in these areas. In English we said as Birds Eye Pepper. Using this piri piri we can make sauces,masala powders and cook so many varieties of dishes.Here I share how to prepare piri piri masala in home.

Ingredients:

Red Chilly Powder 1 Tbsp.
Garlic Powder 1 Tsp.
Black Salt 1 Tsp.
Powdered Sugar 1 tsp.
Cinnamon Powder 1/2 Tsp.
Oregano 1 Tsp.
Ginger Powder 1 Tsp.

Method:

  • Add all ingredients in a bowl and mix it well. The Piri Piri Masala is ready.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Grilled Piri Piri Veg Sandwich.First we prepare a sandwich spread using hung curd and piri piri masala.Then we assemble the bread slices using veggies,spreads,etc., Then grill the sandwich slices by applying butter.Now our Tasty Grilled Piri Piri Veg Sandwich is ready with our homemade piri piri masala.

Ingredients:

Hung Curd 1 Cup(You can use Mayonnaise instead of Hung Curd).
Piri Piri Masala 2 to 3 Tbsp.
Bread Slices as Required.
Onion Round Slices as Required.
Tomato Round Slices as Required.
Cucumber Round Slices as Required
Butter for Toasting.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • In a mixing bowl,add Hung Curd,piri piri masala annd mix it well. Now our piri piri spread is ready.
  • Take two bread slices,apply butter on one side of each slices.
  • Add the prepared spread over the bread slices.
  • Assemble the onion round slices over one bread slice.
  • Assemble the tomato round slices.
  • Assemble the cucumber round slices.
  • Sprinkle some piri piri masala over it as you required.
  • Cover with another bread slice.
  • Apply butter on top side of the sandwich.
  • Heat a grill pan,place the sandwich on the pan by butter applied side face down and grill it
  • Now apply butter on another side.
  • Flip it out once one side done.
  • Grill another side.
  • Once done transfer to the plate and serve hot.

Pictorial Description:

In a mixing bowl,add hung curd.


Add piri piri masala to it.


Mix it well. Now our piri piri sandwich spread is ready.


Take 2 slices of any bread(Here I'm using brown bread).


Apply butter on one side of the slices.


Add the prepared spread over the slices.


Assemble the round sliced onions on one slice.


Assemble the round sliced tomato to it.


Assemble the round sliced cucumber to it.


Sprinkle some piri piri masala over the veggies.


Cover with another bread slice.


Apply butter on top side of the bread.


Heat the grill pan.


Place the sandwich on the grill pan as butter applied side face down.


Apply butter on another side


Flip it out once done.Grill.


Once grilled transfer it to the plate and serve.

Soya Chunk Pulav in Rice/Slow Cooker


Pulav is one of the popular variety rice dish of India.Pulav can be prepared as different styles. Here I posted the pulav made with soya chunks.Here I share the recipe that are cooked using rice/slow cooker.

Rice is one of the major food source of some countries like India,Japan.We can prepare many variety rice with the combination of dals, vegetables,lentils,spice powders,etc.,

There are so many variety rices that are cooked all over the world to accompany with different food. In India,mostly the  rice varieties   are like dal kichadi,puliyogare,lemon rice,pongal,briyani,pulav,etc., Here I shared the links of some of the rice varieties in this blog.

Info about Key Ingredients:

Soya Chunk is the key ingredient for this recipe.Soya Chunk is called as vegetarian's meat because it contains high source of protein and fibre.There is a common question arrives how this soya chunks made of,what content is present inside.These soya chunks are made by the excess product comes out when extracting soya bean oil.Nowadays there are so many discussions going on is soya chunk is healthy or unhealthy.On healthy side I already said it contain rich protein but on unheathly side it contains phytoestorgen which increases the estrogen level in women's body.So according to our ancestor's word "Food is Medicine" we eat food in a proper manner/measure is good for health.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Soya Chunk Pulav. First soak the soya chunk in hot water and milk for 1/2 an hours. Turn on the rice cooker/slow cooker,add oil and seasonings. Then fry tomatoes,onions,ginger garlic paste,green chilly along with spice powders. Add soya chunks and rice along with water and cook it for 20 minutes. Now our Soya Chunk Pulav is ready. Serve with onion raitha.

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice    1 Cup.
Soya Chunks    1 Cup.
Ginger Garlic Paste    1 Tsp.
Onion    2 No(Sliced).
Tomato    1 No(Sliced).
Green Chilly    2 Nos.
Cinnamon(Pattai/Dalchini)    1 inch..
Cloves(Kirambu/Lavang)    3 Nos.
Cardamom(Elakkai/Elachi)    2 Nos.
Bay Leaves(Biriyani Leaves/Tej Patta)    1 No.
Star Anise(Thakkolam/Chakra Pool)    1 No.
Black Pepper(Milagu/Kali Mirch )    1/4 Tsp.
Marathi Muggu    1 No.  
Shah Jeera(Black Cumin)    1 Tsp.  
Turmeric Powder    1/4 Tsp.
Garam Masala    1/2 Tsp.
Briyani Masala    1 Tsp.
Chicken Masala Powder    1 Tsp.
Oil    3 Tbsp.
Salt to Taste.
Water 2 cups 
Curry Leaves    Few.
Coriander Leaves    for Garnishing.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Soak basmati rice for 1/2 an hour.Soak soya chunks in 1 cup hot water and 1 tbsp milk for 10 minutes.
  • Turn on the rice cooker/slow cooker.Add Oil and all whole masala to it and season well.
  • Add Onion and fry it well.
  • Add green chilly,ginger garlic paste and fry it well.
  • Add tomatoes and fry it well.
  • Add turmeric powder,garam masala powder,briyani masala powder,salt and fry until the raw smell goes out.
  • Now add the soaked soya chunks and mix it well until the masalas are well coated to it.
  • Add chicken masala powder to it and fry.
  • Now add the soaked basmathi rice to it.
  • Mix it well.
  • Add 2 cup of water,required salt(the water musty be salty) to it and mix it well.
  • Add some coriander leaves to it,cover with lid and cook for 20 to 25 minutes.
  • When water completely evaporates,our pulav is ready.
  • Turn off the rice cooker,garnish with more coriander leaves and put it in warm mode.
  • Serve hot with any raitha.


Pictorial Description:

Squeeze the water in soya chunks and keep aside.


Chop the veggies as mentioned.


Turn on the rice cooker.


Add oil and whole garam masala.Season it well.


Add onions and fry it well until onion becomes soft.


Add green chilly.


Add ginger garlic paste and fry it well.


Add tomato and fry it well.


Add turmeric powder,garam masala powder,briyani masala powder,salt to it and fry until raw smell goes out.


Add soya chunks and mix well until the masala coated well.


Add chicken masala powder to it and fry it well.


Add the soaked rice to it.


Mix it well.


Add 2 cups of water and required salt to it(The water must be little bit salty).


Mix it well.


Add some coriander leaves.


Cover with lid and cook it for 20 to 25 minutes.


Now the water is completely evaporates. Our pulav is ready.Turn off the rice/slow cooker and put it in warm mode.


Garnish with coriander leaves.


Now our Soya Chunk Pulav is ready.Serve hot with raithas.
