Cucumber Curd Kichadi


 

Cucumber Curd Kichadi is one of the easiest sidedish made by the combination of cucumber,curd,coconut paste. Here I shared the recipe followed my mother. This Cucumber Curd Kichadi is one of the most important sidedish in the Grand Lunch served in our Marriage Ceremony and Kerala Royal Sadhya.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Cucumber Curd Kichadi. It is one of the easiest sidedish. First we boil the peeled cucumber. Meanwhile grind a coconut paste. Add the paste to the cucumber. Season with mustard seeds,urud dal,dry red chilly and curry leaves in coconut oil,add to the above kichadi and allow it to cool. Then add the thick curd to it and serve.

Ingredients:

Mangalore Cucumber(Peeled and cubed) 250gms.
Thick Curd 250 gms.
Grated Coconut 1/4 cup.
Green Chilly 2 nos.
Garlic Clove 1 no.
Jeera 1 tsp.
Mustard Seed 1 tsp.
Urud Dal 1 tsp.
Dry Red Chilly 1 No.
Water as required.
Salt to taste.
Coconut Oil 2 tsp.
Curry Leaves few.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Peel and cut the cucumber into cubes.
  • In a pan,add cucumber,salt and water. Boil it well.
  • In a mixie jar,add grated coconut,jeera,garlic clove,green chilly and grind it into a fine paste.
  • Add the paste to the boiled cucumber and mix well and boil for 1 minute.
  • In a tadka pan,add coconut oil,mustard seeds,urud dal,dry red chilly and season it well. Add curry leaves to it.
  • Pour the seasoning to the cucumber and mix well.
  • Transfer it into the serving bowl and cool it down.
  • Add the thick curd to it and mix well.
  • Now our Cucumber Curd Kichadi is ready to serve.

Peel and chop the cucumber into cubes.


Heat a pan,add cucumber and salt.


Add water and boil/cook it well.


Take a mixie jar,add grated coconut,cumin,garlic clove,green chilly to it.


Grind it to a fine paste.


Add it to the cooked cucumber.


Mix it well and cook for 1 minute.


In a tadka pan, add coconut oil,mustard seeds,urud dal,dry red chilly,curry leaves and season it.


Pour the tadka on the cooked cucumber coconut mixture.


Transfer it into a serving bowl and cool down it.


Now add the thick curd and mix well.


Our Cucumber Curd Kichadi is ready to serve.
