Ragi Idiyappam(Finger Millet String Hopper) By Raji's Smart Kitchen "Cook Food in a Smart Way"



Idiyappam(String Hopper) is one of the major breakfast of South India which can be traditionally made with rice flour.Nowadays this can be prepared in the millets,wheat flour.Here I share the recipe of Idiyappam(String Hopper) made of Ragi(Finger Millet) Flour.

Recipe Overview:

In this Post I share the recipe Ragi Idiyappam(Finger Millet String Hopper). First we make a dough using ragi flour.Then we load it in the sev press.Press it in the idly plate and steam.Now our Ragi Idiyappam(Finger Millet String Hopper) is ready. Serve with some chutney,sambhar.

Ingredients:

Ragi Flour 1 Cup.
Rice Flour 2 Tbsp.
Salt to taste.
Hot Water as Required.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Take a wide bowl,add 1 cup ragi flour.
  • Add 2 tbsp rice flour.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Gradually add hot water and knead it to form a soft dough.
  • Fill the dough in the sev press.
  • Greese the idly/dhokla plate,press the dough in the plate.
  • Steam it for 10 minutes.
  • Now our Ragi Idiyappam(Finger Millet String Hopper) is ready.
  • Transfer it to the plate and serve with chutney or sambhar.

Pictorial Description:

In a wide bowl,add a cup of ragi flour.


Add 2 tbsp rice flour.


Add required salt.


Add hot water.


Knead it to form a soft dough.


Take a Sev Press and put the sev mould or idyappam achu.
Fill the sev press with dough.


Greese the idiyappam/dhokla/idly plate with oil.


Press the dough as like this.


Arrange the plates.


Steam it for 10 minutes.


Our Ragi Idiyappam(Finger Millet String Hopper) is ready.Serve with chutney,sambhar or any non veg curry/gravy.
