Yummy Bread Puttu(Traditional Steamed Bread Layered Cake)


 Puttu is one of the traditional,easy and favourite breakfast dish in our place.It is usually made up of rice flour layered with coconut.Here I share the recipe of Puttu made of whole wheat bread that I have tried.

In this Post I share the recipe Bread Puttu for that we blend the bread into course powder.Add salt,sugar,sprinkle some water and mix it well.Add the mixture to the steamer vessel layered with coconut.Steam it.Our Bread Puttu is ready.Come on,lets see the required ingredients and step by step instructions ...

Method:

Recipe:

Ingredients:

Bread Slices as Required.
Grated Coconut as Required.
Salt to Taste.
Sugar 1 Tsp.
Water 3 Tbsp.

Step By Step Instructions:
  • Scramble the bread slices.Add it to a mixie jar.Blend it into course powder.
  • Transfer to a mixing bowl.Add salt and sugar.
  • Sprinkle little water and mix it well until bread becomes soft.
  • Take the puttu maker.Fill half the bottom of the puttu kudam with water.Placed on the gas stove and allow it to boil.
  • Assemble the top part(Kuzhal) of the puttu maker by adding 2 spoon of grated coconut as first layer then 3 spoon of bread mixture as second layer then again 2 spoon of grated coconut third layer.
  • Repeat the process until the kuzhal is filled.(Refer Pictorial description)
  • Close the lid.Place the kuzhal over the puttu kudam.
  • Steam it for 10 minutes.
  • Now take the kuzhal and pull out the puttu outside from the back of the kuzhal using knife in a plate.
  • Our Yummy Bread Puttu is ready.Serve with Bananas.


Pictorial Description:

Take the required bread slices(I'm using whole wheat bread).


Scramble it into pieces.


Add it to a mixie jar.


Grind it to a coarse powder.


Transfer to a mixing bowl.


Add salt and sugar.


Sprinkle little water and mix it well until the bread powder becomes soft.


Half fill the bottom of the puttu maker(Kudam) with water.Allow it to boil.


In the top part of the puttu maker(kuzhal) add 2 spoon of grated coconut as first layer.


Then add 2 spoon of bread powder as second layer.


Again add 2 spoon of grated coconut as third layer.


Repeat the process until the kuzhal is filled.


Close the lid.


Place the kuzhal over the kudam and steam it for 10 minutes.


Now remove the kuzhal from the kudam.Pull out the puttu from the back side of the kuzhal to the plate using knife.


Wow our Yummy Bread Puttu is ready.Serve with banana.
